ZigBox uses geo-distributed data centers in the EU (Frankfurt), US (Virginia), and APAC (Singapore). EU users are stored in Frankfurt by default for GDPR compliance. You can choose your preferred region in account settings.
Files are encrypted on your device before upload using AES-256-GCM. The encryption keys are derived from your password using Argon2 — they never leave your device. ZigBox servers store only ciphertext and can't read your files even if they wanted to.
